From late August, the AI assistant many of us use daily starts showing ads — and because of European law, it has to ask our permission before building a profile to target them. In this segment we look forward, calmly, at what that right to be asked is actually worth: why European rules genuinely protect us here, but why consent only means something if we stop clicking yes out of habit — and why the small act of actually deciding, instead of trading ourselves away for convenience, might be one of the most quietly radical things we can still do.
